Following service as Chief Resident, he continued his training in Geriatric Medicine at UT Southwesternin Dallas. Dr. St.John has practiced in the New Orleans area since 2017 and currently serves as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine, teaching the skills necessary to provide the level of care that should be expected for the geriatric population. He spends most of his days providing direct patient care and working to find ways to improve the system as a leader in his field. He is devoted to understanding the complexities that accompany aging and end of life care. Dr. St. John currently serves as Medical Director of a local hospice agency as well as in many of the facilities in which he provides care. Dr. St John’s wife is also a physician and they have 2 small children that keep them very busy! She received her undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University. She went on to complete her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Portsmouth, Dominica, where she met her husband, Dr. St. John. Following this she completed her internship and residency at Methodist Dallas Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, where she served as chief resident from 2014-2015. Dr. Powell is board certified in Internal Medicine and has worked in hospital medicine for several years before transitioning to post-acute care. She is an AANP board-certified family nurse practitioner and received her Master of Science in Nursing from Loyola University New Orleans. She is enthusiastic about providing quality, compassionate, and comprehensive care to post-acute patients and long-term care residents. Prior to joining Continuum Care Partners, Lisa’s experience as a nurse practitioner includes transplant, stroke neurology (as both Program Coordinator and Stroke Clinical Research Coordinator), as well as in Hospital Medicine. Her broad experiences provide the base for supporting patients through a compassion and collaborative care approach that facilitates treatment and the patient’s sense of comfort and trust. She is a member of the Society for Post-acute and Long-term Care Medicine and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. In her free time, Lisa enjoys traveling and spending time with her twins and family.
